S.E.X

When I was younger, I COULD NOT, WOULD NOT say the word “sex” or “the ‘S’ word” as we used to call it.Whenever someone actually said the word sex, it was followed by “oohs and aaahs” and *hand over mouth* gestures.

I was privileged to attend a seminar on SEX. At church. Many people would probably wonder how, when and why the CHURCH would be TALKING about SEX. Sex has been perversed and un-sanctified by the world. We have been poisoned so much that we now see sex as a dirty immoral act (of course it is if done in the wrong place, wrong time, wrong people).
I sat right at the front of the auditorium during this “sex talk” and when the Pastor began to speak about sex, I didn’t know where to hide, and if my skin was any lighter I would have turned brighter than a ripe tomato! After some time I got more comfortable, I would have never thought that I would have EVER written a blog about sex, but the Spirit had other plans ;-)

I have pages and pages AND PAGES of notes and illustrations but I’m going to try and keep them as concise as I can so you don’t doze off.

  • God's desire was for monogamous relationships. When He created A mate for Adam, He created ONE Eve for Adam
  • God did not form Eve from clay/dust, but from one of Adam’s ribs. Holla ladies, we were NOT made from MUD but from blood (somehow that makes me feel like we have a one-up on the guys!) --- just remembered a quote:
“The woman was formed from a man’s rib. Not from his feet to be walked on.
Not  from his head to be superior, but from the side to be equal.
Under the arm to be protected and next to the heart to be loved.”
  • God took from Adam what was ‘feminine’ and put it in Eve, so that they could compliment each other (forget what you’ve been told about “he completes me”) -- men and women were created to compliment each other.
  • If you have or have ever had sexual thoughts, thank God that you're NORMAL!! . We are hormonised (by God) not demonised (by the devil).
“God gave us a sex drive, but He also gave us a steering wheel and brakes as well.”
  • Ideally, the order of events when it comes to sex should be:
Leave – leave your father and mother, i.e you need to be able to stand on your own 2 feet
Cleave – commit through marriage
Become one – consummate AFTER marriage.

  •          Dating Biblical Style
a.       Be the right person. We all want to be with Mr or Mrs. Right, but are you making sure you’re the best you can be for your future husband or wife?
b.   Walk in love – (with each other) through mutual respect, prayer and enriching each other’s lives
c.   Fix your hopes on God – not on each other. A mistake that often occurs in relationships is that people often make each other the be all and end all of each other’s lives. The alpha and Omegas of each… when it should be God. Truth be told, people disappoint, but God is constant.
d.   Failure = Repeat 1 + 2 +3
  • Each of us had a hypothetical black dog and white dog lurking within us. Almost like the angel and devil illustration used in many movies. The white dog represents purity and moral acts, and conversely the black dog represents impurity, immorality. Either one of these “dogs” can manifest in your life but it depends on which dog you feed.
  • Don’t lie to yourself saying that you just casually play around with sin, and linger on the edge of sin, because one day, you WILL fall in because the way the brain works is as follows:
STIMULUS ---> STORAGE---> RETRIEVAL
What you put in, goes into storage and can be retrieved at any time. You need to hold EVERY thought captive. The moment your thoughts begin to wonder or become dirty or perverted, pray and get rid of them before they have being in your life.
  • Sex is reserved for marriage and you are regarded as “whole” if you enter into marriage as a virgin. However, some people may along the way been defiled or “lost”/given away their virginity. There’s still hope. Just because you are no longer “whole” physically does not mean you are beyond retrieval. There are steps that can be followed by anyone wishing to live in sexual purity:
    1. Confess – to God and to people you can trust and are comfortable with
    2. Repent – turn away from the sins. If you were going one way, turn the OTHER direction
    3. Receive the cleansing – God sayd when you repent, He remembers your sin no more and as far as the East is from the West, so your past sins are from you.
    4. Take a fresh walk on the straight and narrow.
    5. Involve others – have accountability partners 2 or 3 people to speak to and to help you with your walk.

"For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;."
Galatians 5:17-19

"Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."
1 Corinthians 6:15-20
